Report: Everton talks come to nothing as TFG target is now set for medical with PL rivals

Everton are facing some serious competition in the summer transfer market for some of their targets.

The Toffees have already seen some of their targets opt to join Premier League rivals in the opening stint of the summer window.

Liam Delap chose Chelsea over Everton with the Londoners able to offer the youngster Champions League football.

Everton have plenty of work to do in the transfer market with players moving on as free agents at the end of the month.

With the window opening again in a matter of days, David Moyes will be keen to see Everton make some moves of their own in the market.

For now, Everton are set to see another of their reported targets join one of their Premier League rivals.

Everton were interested in Benitez who is leaving the Dutch side as a free agent.

It is claimed Benitez will have the opportunity to compete for the Crystal Palace number one spot, which would not have been the case at Everton.

Since departing the club, Begovic has hailed Pickford as the Premier League’s best goalkeeper which may worry any goalkeepers potentially joining the Blues.

Although it may prove a difficult sell, Everton are in need of signing some new goalkeepers to bolster their squad options.

Everton need to battle rivals to their summer targets

It is unlikely Everton will lose much sleep on missing out on a backup goalkeeper, but there will be some frustrations in missing out on another target to a rival.

Everton hope the new stadium will attract players this summer, though.

This may well be the case when it comes to some of the bigger-name targets as Everton eye a move for Jack Grealish.

But the Toffees have a lot of work to do in the market when it reopens and the clock is already ticking down on the start of pre-season.
