Arsenal are hoping to sign a striker this summer, and they have been linked with Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners have been linked with Gyokeres for several months spanning back to last summer, as Mikel Arteta hopes to add a number nine to become the focal point of their attack.

Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig has emerged as the frontrunner for the Gunners, and reports have said that Arteta and Andrea Berta are in talks with the German club, and Sesko himself over a deal which would see him come to the Emirates. He is expected to cost at least £70m.
Meanwhile, they are also linked to Gyokeres, who has an £85m release clause after he scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season. Man United are also keen to bring Gyokeres in due to his connection with manager Ruben Amorim, but where will the Swedish striker end up?
Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has made his prediction with regards to Gyokeres’ destination, and where he will be playing next season. He told Betfair: “On Viktor Gyokeres, I’m not surprised at all if they [Man United] get him because of his work with Sporting and Ruben Amorim before, I think that was always going to be the case.
“They’re not in Europe this year, they’re not in the Champions League and they’re going to have to pay huge wages to get the players and tempt them away from other clubs that are going to be interested in them.”
Gyokeres to Man United could depend on Champions League football
The biggest difference as highlighted by Shearer between Arsenal and Man United, is that Arteta’s side have Champions League football next season, and they also will be challenging for the Premier League title, something that would be of strong attraction to Gyokeres.
However, seeing as the Swedish striker has worked with Amorim before, that fact enough could be enough to tempt Gyokeres over a move to Old Trafford despite no European football, and the lack of chance to challenge for the Premier League title.
Man United are struggling for transfer budget at the moment however, and so may not be able to afford Gyokeres. If so, Arsenal could swoop in and try and sign the Sporting CP star, as they have the budget and leeway with regards to PSR.
