Kings Named Among Favorites to Land Former Warriors Champion in Offseason Trade

The Sacramento Kings enter the offseason in an interesting situation after they struggled throughout the season.

Of course, it was a season of change for the Kings as they moved on from head coach Mike Brown in December.

They then traded star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline in the same move that landed them Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls.

Sacramento’s new core of LaVine, Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan did not pan out too well as they finished ninth in the Western Conference and failed to make the playoffs after they were eliminated in the Play-In Tournament by the Dallas Mavericks.

The Kings now enter the offseason with a key decision to make regarding their star trio and they also need to address their hole at the point guard position.

One player they could go after is Washington Wizards star and former Golden State Warriors champion Jordan Poole as they have emerged as a potential favorite to land him.

According to Bovada, the Kings have the second-best odds (+600) to land Poole via trade this offseason.

The Orlando Magic are the favorite (+550) to land him while the Milwaukee Bucks (+700) and New Orleans Pelicans (+750) were also named.

Of course, Poole would fill the Kings’ hole at point guard, though he has been more of a shooting guard during his NBA career.

Despite this, Poole would be a solid fit in Sacramento as he would give them another reliable scorer.

While that may be the case, the Kings would have to move one of their star players to match salaries in a potential trade with them most likely moving on from DeRozan.

If that is the case, the Wizards may not be interested in DeRozan, or any of the Kings other two stars, which would shut down any trade they could make for Poole.
