Matheus Cunha’s departure to Manchester United has raised eyebrows over Wolves’ chances of progressing as a club this summer.
Cunha was officially unveiled as a Man United player this week, but his transfer to Old Trafford was confirmed on June 1.
Wolves fans were angered by Cunha’s latest comments on social media, after sharing the message ‘It’s all about following your dreams’ while holding a printed picture of himself wearing a United shirt.
For all of the baggage that comes with the 26-year-old, including his incredibly poor attitude, he is a world-class player who Vitor Pereira will find difficult to replace this summer.
The Brazilian scored 17 goals in all competitions last term, successfully dragging his side to safety, with supporters now wondering how they’ll spend their transfer fee.

Wolves have identified Fernando Lopez as Matheus Cunha’s replacement
Molineux News revealed that Wolves were keeping tabs on Braga’s Roger Fernandes as a potential replacement for the Brazilian.
Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss was also shortlisted as a name that intrigued Pereira, though the Old Gold would face competition from Arsenal for his signature.

Now, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, it is understood that Wolves could swoop for Celta Vigo attacker Fernando Lopez to replace Cunha.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Lopez, who is a former teammate of Jorgen Strand Larsen at Celta, enjoyed a solid breakout season in La Liga after impressing in the third tier of Spanish football with their second team.
The 21-year-old appeared 17 times in La Liga, scoring just twice, but impressing with the technical side of his game, something that could see him replace the quality of Cunha.
Lopez has some impressive statistics
Wolves fans will want someone more mature and established to fill the void of Cunha. Lopez has only made 20 senior appearances for Celta and isn’t ready for the pressure of delivering in the Brazilian’s absence.
But if Pereira can sign another quality number 10 alongside the Spanish playmaker, he would be gaining someone who has already amassed some impressive statistics.
As highlighted by FBref, Lopez ranks in the top 4% of attacking midfielders across Europe for pass completion (84.6%), the top 14% for progressive passes per 90 (5.77) and the top 12% for non-penalty xG (0.36) in the past year.
That is close to the levels Cunha reached in his final season at Wolves, and it proves that, if he can work under a progressive coach such as Pereira, his game will be elevated to new heights.
