‘Be an adult.’ 40-year QB rants about players doing TikTok dances

Don’t expect to see Joe Flacco participating in any TikTok trends anytime soon.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback aired some grievances about the prevalence of social media. The 40-year-old Flacco says he‘s only ever used Instagram, which led a reporter to ask if that meant they woudn’t see him do any TikTok dances.

“No TikTok dances. The fact that people – that is different, too, this generation, the fact that people want to get on their phones and show people the most – like, that’s embarrassing. You’re an adult. Be an adult,“ Flacco said to reporters Wednesday.

“It’s just like, I can’t wrap my head around that. I get it, you have kids and you want to have fun with your kids. Well, have fun with your kids in private. That’s what I think.”

Flacco is back in Cleveland this season as he continues his late-career journey through the NFL. After 11 seasons and a Super Bowl title with the Baltimore Ravens, Flacco has bounced around as a stable veteran for teams to rely on.

Flacco spent one season in Denver and three years with the Jets before landing in Cleveland for his first stint in 2023. Flacco spent 2024 playing with the Colts, filling in for injured starter Anthony Richardson.

Now back in Cleveland, Flacco is part of one of the NFL’s most wide-open quarterback rooms along with Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Don’t expect Flacco to keep up with Sanders’ social media activity.

The veteran quarterback said he abstains from most social media apps. While he admits that he’s “too far down the road” to give up Instagram at this point, he’s not touching any other apps.

“I won’t download the other things because I don’t miss them. ... Twitter and all those other things, I won’t even download it on my phone just because I know it’s a trap to just, you know, get sucked in,” Flacco said.
