Last season, Westbrook played a key role off the bench for the Nuggets, averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He shot 44.9% from the field and 32.3% from beyond the arc.

For Denver, Westbrook’s departure opens up cap space and roster flexibility. The Nuggets can now look to build around their core of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, while possibly adding younger talent or role players to complement their stars.

While Westbrook’s next destination remains unclear, the former MVP is expected to draw interest from several playoff-caliber teams in need of experience and backcourt depth.

Over his storied 17-year NBA career, Westbrook has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and, most recently, the Nuggets.

He was the 2017 NBA Most Valuable Player, a 9-time All-Star, and ranks among the league’s all-time leaders in triple-doubles.
