Florian Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool looks like a done deal.
The transfer saga regarding the German has gone on for the last couple of weeks, with some Liverpool fans even thinking that the deal might not end up happening.
However, after multiple updates on Friday morning, it seems like the last thing to do before the deal is officially announced will be Wirtz’s medical, which will take place upon his return from holiday.

With all of this in mind, fans may be starting to wonder how he fits into Arne Slot’s plans, especially with the form that Dominik Szoboszlai was in before the 2024-25 season came to an end.
Edu Gaspar believes Florian Wirtz could play as a left winger or as an attacking midfielder for Liverpool
Before Wirtz decided that his future was better off with Liverpool rather than any of the other teams who showed an interest in him, he was one of the most sought-after prospects in the world.
Many consider the German to already be the best attacking midfielder around, with his 31-goal contributions last term speaking for themselves.
And, while speaking to BBC Sport during an interview, former West Ham United coach Edu Gaspar gave his verdict on where he thinks Wirtz could be used by Slot next season.
“The player’s versatility will be of great value to Liverpool. He can come from the left inside, or he can play more centrally,” he said.

“Wirtz’s ability to break lines and find the final pass is exquisite. He is a master in finding the pockets and will also add goals into the squad.
“His work off the ball is very good, but will he adapt quickly to the potentially faster pace and more physical game of the Premier League?
“He is a player with an admirable work ethic, so Liverpool will definitely be adding an honest and very skilful player into their squad.”

Florian Wirtz could be the signing of the summer
The fact that most of Europe’s elite clubs wanted to add Wirtz to their squad showcases how good he actually is.
Many won’t likely know how well the young German carries himself as he’s plied his trade in the Bundesliga for the entirety of his career, but once he puts on the Liverpool kit, his talent will be on show for the world to see.
The midfielder’s keen eye for goal is one of the many assets that the Leverkusen ace can bring to Slot’s team next season.
His arrival will also help ease some of the pressure from Mohamed Salah’s shoulders as he’s unlikely to put in numbers like he did this season ever again.

Of course, it’s still early days and by the end of his Liverpool stint, he could end up being a flop, but with the way he’s gone from strength to strength already, it’s hard to see how he won’t continue going in an upward trajectory.
