Everton have been linked with a potential transfer move for VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade who scored a hat-trick for Germany Under-21s against Slovenia
VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade
Everton-linked striker Nick Woltemade has spoken out following speculation that he will make a transfer exit from VfB Stuttgart this summer. Last week, The Athletic reported that the Blues have been tracking Woltemade, along with Villarreal’s Thierno Barry as David Moyes looks to boost his attacking options after discussing a possible move for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap only for the player to choose Chelsea instead.
The 6ft 6in frontman only joined Stuttgart last summer on a free transfer when his contract at home city club Werder Bremen expired but he has proven to be a revelation at the MHPArena and netted 17 times in all competitions in 2024/25.
Woltemade has now taken that form to international duty and on Thursday night he grabbed a hat-trick in Germany Under-21s 3-0 win over their Slovenia counterparts in their opening match of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship at Stadion pod Zoborom in Nitra, Slovakia.

Asked about his future, the 23-year-old didn’t give much away and Liverpool World quote him as telling BILD: “I think that’s part of it. It wouldn’t be optimal scouting if a club didn’t have that on their radar right now.
“I’m not thinking about my future right now. I’m now with the U21 national team, I’m having a lot of fun, and I just scored three goals.”
The same article also mentions that Woltemade discussed his future ahead of the tournament when he was asked about Stuttgart fans’ fears that he could depart this summer, despite still having three years remaining on his contract.
He told nw.de: “It’s always difficult to allay fears. Football is somehow too wild and fast-paced for that.
“But what I can say is that I feel very comfortable in Stuttgart, that I’m having a great season, that we won the cup (he opened the scoring in their 4-2 victory over Arminia Bielefeld in the final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion), and that thanks to my good performances at VfB, I’ve now also been selected for the national team.
“It's special for me to be here. I definitely didn’t want to miss the European Championships. It’s a lot, but I'm having a lot of fun.
"I think as long as I don’t lose that, and as long as that’s my priority, I won’t get tired.”
