The transfer saga of Bryan Mbeumo has taken yet another turn as Manchester United are battling Tottenham Hotspur for the Brentford attacker.
United have been firm favourites to sign Mbeumo for some time now, with the Cameroon international keen to be a part of Ruben Amorim’s rebuild at Old Trafford.
However, Spurs’ decision to sack Ange Postecoglou has thrown a major spanner in the works.
The London-based club haven’t had to look to far for his successor though, turning to Brentford’s Thomas Frank to lead Spurs in their Champions League campaign next season.
Whilst Frank has brought a significant number of staff with him from the Gtech Community Stadium, he’s also keen for Mbeumo move with him too.
Frank has reportedly asked Tottenham to make a £60 million bid for the attacker in a bid to hijack Manchester United’s seemingly impending signing.

Now, it’s understood that Spurs have held genuine internal conversations about the signing, having now made contact with Brentford according to Sky Sports.
Unfortunately for United, the report has also suggested that Bryan Mbeumo is now intrigued by a move to Spurs, throwing his move to Old Trafford in question.
A transfer to Tottenham would not only come with a familiarity in leadership, remaining under Thomas Frank, but would also mean remaining in London as opposed to uprooting his life with a 200 mile move north.
However, United are still confident in their place as front runners in the race to seal Mbeumo’s signature.
United’s initial bid of £55 million, made up of a £45 million transfer fee and £10 million in add-ons, was rejected by The Bees who value Mbeumo at £70 million.
Whilst recent reports have suggested a second bid for the star has been submitted by United, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
However, with Amorim keen on signing the 25-year-old, it’s expected that United will pick up the pace when the transfer window reopens next week.
