The Pittsburgh Steelers are not interested in free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen, according to Chris Halicke of DK Pittsburgh Sports.
"In a recent live stream on TikTok, free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen said he’s not interested in playing with the Steelers. I can tell you with confidence, after confirming with a very reliable source in the team’s facility, that Allen hasn’t been on their radar in their search to add another pass catcher. Like, not at all. So, his words didn’t exactly break their heart," Halicke wrote.
Allen did say that exactly on a TikTok live stream two days ago, stating that while he would never close the door on heading to the Steelers, it was certainly not at the top of his list.
“There’s two sides to the story. I mean, A-Rod being a quarterback, of course that interests you,” Allen said during the livestream. “But Pittsburgh? No.”
He did later somewhat retract that statement, saying he would ‘never say never,’ but Allen’s rhetoric does not suggest that he will end up playing for the Steelers this year.
“But hey, you never know,” Allen said.
Allen, 33, had 744 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 70 receptions a season ago. That is by far the most productive free-agent wide receiver left on the market, but the Steelers have called around to many teams asking if there is a playmaker that could be open for a trade.
If the Steelers went the free agency route, Allen was one of the top names along with Gabe Davis and Amari Cooper. Davis has already visited Pittsburgh, but he is still not healthy as he recovers from a torn meniscus injury he suffered during the 2024 season.
