Matheus Cunha has admitted Ruben Amorim played an important part in his decision to join Manchester United.

United triggered the £62.5million release clause in Cunha's contract at Molineux and the forward was officially unveiled on Thursday afternoon after having his visa approved.

Cunha has signed a five-year contract, with the option of an additional year, at Old Trafford.

United will stagger the £62.5m payment to Wolves in three instalments and Cunha is the first new face through the door in the summer transfer window following an awful campaign.

Cunha was identified as a priority target for Amorim. The Brazilian scored 17 goals in a struggling Wolves side and will strengthen Amorim's attacking options for the new season.

The 26-year-old sat down with MUTV for his first interview since signing for United and said: "I think my decision [to join United] maybe outside, they don't understand, it was a little bit complicated.

"When you always dream to play [for United], it's easier to make this decision. But, for me, no one is like United, you know? When you have the possibility to come here... I know it was a hard season for everyone, but I think my decision shows a lot what this club is for me and what I believe it can be.

"I will do everything I can to manage this inside of me to play for my dream team."

Cunha discussed Amorim said: "Yeah, apart from everything I say about the club, you know, I follow, this is my dream club, everything like that, I think he was very important to bring me here.

"I really believe in him, everything he did in Portugal, like I say, I hope he can conquer the world like he did in Portugal, but of course, I think he needs players who can do everything like I am open to doing. And help the team and help him. All the conversations we had made my decision easier."

Cunha added on his targets: "I don't think we have one player who comes here and doesn't think of the glory days of Manchester United, to remember all the times they win the Premier League.

"Of course, to qualify for the Champions League, and this is what I think about United, to put this club on top and I'll do everything to help the team to conquer these kind of things.

"I think everything that happens in my life now is much better because I think I'm a little bit more mature. Of course, I am someone who tries to learn from the mistakes for the good things.

"I have maturity now and to go to national team was better. To come here, was the perfect moment."
