Manchester United’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo has become public knowledge in recent weeks – and it’s easy to see why.
The Brentford forward enjoyed a standout Premier League season, finishing as the division’s fourth-highest scorer behind only Salah, Isak and Haaland.
Naturally, United have moved to secure the 25-year-old.
The hierarchy view him as a proven, high-output attacker with the physicality and intelligence to thrive at Old Trafford.
But their pursuit is proving far from straightforward, especially now Tottenham Hotspur have entered the picture following the appointment of Thomas Frank.
Now, Mirror Football report that Spurs have submitted a £70million bid to hijack United’s move for Mbeumo.

The north London club’s proposal is worth £65m up front plus £5m in add-ons – £10m more than United’s latest bid.
Frank, who managed Mbeumo at Brentford since 2019, is pushing for a reunion.
Champions League football could also be used as a lure.
Daniel Levy is said to view the Cameroon international as a statement signing for Frank’s first summer in charge.
United, however, remain Mbeumo’s preferred destination according to the Mirror, despite their £60m offer – £55m plus £5m in bonuses – being turned down last week.
Brentford are holding firm on a £70m valuation, believing the player’s output more than justifies the price.

Mbeumo registered 20 Premier League goals last season and chipped in with seven assists.
He helped guide the Bees to a top-half finish even after Ivan Toney’s exit.
What may still tip the scales in United’s favour is the wage package on offer.
Tottenham’s current offer would see Mbeumo earn around £130k-£140k-a-week, even with add-ons.
The player has just one year left on his contract (with an option for an extra year), and Brentford are resigned to him wanting to move on.
With both clubs now engaged in a tug-of-war, Mbeumo’s next move could prove a decisive one this summer.
