Barcelona’s summer plans: Training, Mexico & Copa Catalunya

Maria Tikas has provided insight into FC Barcelona’s summer plans. With ten players called up to Spain’s national women’s team, the final preseason squad remains uncertain and will depend on how far they progress in the UEFA Women’s Euro. While the club is still finalizing its schedule for the preseason, here’s what we know so far:

Preparations in Mexico

Barcelona will travel to Mexico for the third consecutive summer to take part in the Campeonas Tour. Training is expected to resume at the end of July, though the ten Spanish internationals — Cata Coll, Jana Fernández, Ona Batlle, Irene Paredes, Patri Guijarro, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí, Vicky López, Claudia Pina, and Salma Paralluelo — will join the squad later after their participation in the Euros and a brief post-tournament break.

The exact dates of the training camp in Mexico have not yet been confirmed. Possible opponents include Club América, Tigres, Chivas, Rayadas, and Pachuca, among others.

Copa Catalunya

The Copa Catalunya final between Barcelona and Levante Badalona — postponed last season — is also under discussion. The match could be held during preseason and would serve as part of the team’s preparations.

The 2025/2026 Liga F season will kick off the weekend of August 30–31 and conclude on May 30–31. There will be no midweek matchdays, except for Matchday 29 if a Spanish team reaches the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.

Barcelona transfer news

Ingrid Engen is confirmed to be leaving FC Barcelona this summer. There have also been rumors that the club might consider offers for Mapi León and Salma Paralluelo. However, according to LaTdG, León is not on the transfer list. On the incoming side, no major signings are expected at this stage, though the club has been linked to several promising talents, including Felicia Schröder from BK Häcken.
