George Pickens Gives First Impressions of Playing Alongside Cowboys Star

Following a shaky tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, George Pickens is embarking on a new journey in the NFL. Moving forward, he'll be suiting up for the league's most iconic franchises in the Dallas Cowboys. As Pickens continues to get settled with his new team, he reflected on his first impressions of one of his key teammates.

While many agree Pickens has the talent to be a top-tier wide receiver in the NFL, off-field drama is one of the main things that has held him back. That said, he has an opportunity to put it all behind him. Starting fresh with a new team, Pickens can begin to reshape his perception across the league.

When it comes to the Cowboys' roster, one person Pickens must build a strong foundation with is Dak Prescott. As the franchise's star quarterback, the two will need to have a strong connection if the team is going to reach its full potential. Luckily for Pickens, things seem to be getting off to a strong start.

As minicamp slowly comes to a close, Pickens was asked his initial thoughts on playing with Prescott. He feels the two already have a good bond forming that is only getting stronger with each rep on the field.

"It's getting better and better every time," Pickens told reporters. "Learning the plays the more I'm here and then get the minutiae of how he wants to run the plays. Yeah, we're connecting for sure."

After having a career year in 2023, Pickens' production took a step back last season. In 14 appearances, he notched 900 yards and a career-low three touchdowns. Now in a new situation, the former second-round pick will look to get his career back on track.

Looking ahead to this season, Pickens and Prescott are two players who could connect rather easily. Though it's for different reasons, they both have a chip on their shoulders heading into 2025. Pickens is looking to salvage his reputation in the NFL, while Prescott is aiming to have a bounce-back year coming off injury.

Pickens has a lot riding on him performing well this season. He is heading into a contract year and is going to have a lot of eyes on him. With the Cowboys being one of the more notable teams in the league, things are make-or-break for him. If Pickens can put together a strong campaign with minimal drama, it could result in a lucrative deal. However, if he continues to have issues, he'll have a tough go in free agency.
