Chiefs Continue Roster Moves as Mandatory Minicamp Nears

The Kansas City Chiefs are wrapping up OTAs on Friday and prepping for mandatory minicamp, which begins on Tuesday.

As the roster continues to evolve, the team announced a couple of changes this week.

On Wednesday, per the team's transaction wire, the Chiefs announced that they have waived defensive lineman Siaki Ika and signed tight end Kevin Foelsch in a corresponding move.

Ika was a third-round pick of the Cleveland Browns out of Baylor in 2023 and played four games before being released ahead of last season as part of the final roster cuts.

The former Baylor Bear bounced around between the practice squads of the Browns and Philadelphia Eagles before settling in with the Chiefs practice squad in December then signing a reserve/futures contract in February.

Foelsch went undrafted out of the University of New Haven in 2023 and signed with the Eagles before being cut before the season and signing with the Carolina Panthers' practice squad.

The 24-year-old now joins the Chiefs and will fight for a spot in an attempt to make his first NFL roster.

In his final season with the University of New Haven Chargers in 2023, Foelsch tallied 32 catches for 318 yards and seven touchdowns across 11 games.

Kansas City now has seven tight ends on the offseason 90-man roster, including Jake Briningstool, Foelsch, Noah Gray, Travis Kelce, Robert Yonyan, Tre Watson and Jared Wiley.
