Report: 'World-class' star waiting for Man Utd transfer after talks held, rejects CL club…

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is waiting on Manchester United to firm up their interest this summer as he wants to move to Old Trafford, according to Bolavip.

The Red Devils are set to be very busy in the transfer market this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his squad following a poor campaign in 2024/25, where they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to leave them without European football for the new season.

Villa have also missed out on Champions League football, ironically after defeat to Man Utd on the final day where Martinez was sent off, and now an exit away from Villa Park looks likely this summer.

With Villa facing some financial difficulties, GMS sources understand that it's expected the Argentina international will leave the club this summer.

Reports in his homeland now state that Turkish champions Galatasaray have made contact about a deal for the World Cup winner as they look to replace long-time shot-stopper Fernando Muslera, however Martinez has rebuffed their interest.

That's because the 32-year-old, who has been described as "world-class" for his performances in recent years, is 'waiting' on a move to Old Trafford having held initial talks with the club about a transfer earlier this year.

Man Utd are currently prioritising moves to bolster their outfield options, in particularly in attack, and that has seen a move for Martinez put on the back-burner for now.

Any move for the goalkeeper would also require them to first sell current first-choice stopper Andre Onana, who has interest from Saudi Arabia, but that is not currently on the cards with no formal offers made for the Cameroon international.

Martinez is currently willing to wait as he doesn't want to leave the Premier League, and he intends to continue playing at the highest level ahead of the 2026 World Cup next summer, where Argentina will be defending champions.

It's believed that Martinez would cost around £30m this summer, a fee considered to be great value currently, and while he continues to wait for Man Utd's call to come the door remains open for them to seal a deal.
