Man United have reportedly been ‘offered’ a striker as an alternative to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.

However, Gyokeres has an £85m release clause, which Man United are unlikely to pay considering their current financial position, and so the Red Devils may decide to look at alternative targets. Victor Osimhen has also been touted as a potential signing, however it is unclear if the Nigerian would move to a team without Champions League football.

With that in mind, Man United could instead go after a striker from Serie A, who they, alongside Arsenal were linked to in the January transfer window. It now seems that they have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign him amid Premier League interest.

Manchester United ‘offered’ Dusan Vlahovic

Vlahovic netted 15 goals and provided five assists last term, despite falling out of favour with Juventus manager Igor Tudor, especially during the back end of the season. He was linked with moves to Old Trafford and Arsenal in January, and it now seems that United could be back in for him.

According to a report by GiveMeSport, Juventus are set to offer Vlahovic to Man United, as he is keen to come to the Premier League, realising that he is no longer in the plans at Juventus. The report says that Vlahovic would be keen on a move to Old Trafford, and that Manchester United are set to have him ‘pushed’ towards them this summer.

Nottingham Forest are also said to be keen on signing Vlahovic as they look to bring in higher-calibre players. Nuno Espirito Santo also reportedly wants competition for striker Chris Wood, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League for Forest last term.

Vlahovic is reportedly seeking a £200,000 per week wage, which is likely less than the likes of Gyokeres and Osimhen, despite the fact that it is still a large figure. It is unclear yet as to whether Manchester United wants to pursue a deal for Vlahovic.

Dusan Vlahovic could be a reliable alternative to Viktor Gyokeres

Despite the fact that Man United are likely to be offered Vlahovic, Sporting CP’s Gyokeres will likely remain their main target this summer, simply due to his goal scoring numbers, and connection to Amorim. However, having an £85m release clause, Man United will have to hope that they can persuade Sporting to sell him for less. But it was said by the Club President, Frederico Varandas that they will be stubborn with their pricing for Gyokeres.

It had been reported that he would be available for around £60m, but Sporting’s President quickly shut that down. Quoted by BBC Sport, Varandas said: “I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised that. To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres - neither today nor last season."

It seems that Man United may have to pay at least £70m for Gyokeres, and so Vlahovic could be a cheaper alternative. Seeing as Juventus don’t have him in their plans, they are likely more willing to sell him for much less than the £67m that they paid for him in 2022.
