This week was a busy one for the Minnesota Vikings, who held mandatory minicamp practices at TCO Performance Center in Eagan Tuesday-Thursday, giving Kevin O’Connell one of his first chances to watch most of the 2025 Vikings practice together this summer.
With plenty of free agent and rookie additions made over the past few months, the roster as it currently sits, will be the MN Vikings as we know them next season. Of course, there will be a ton of moving and shaking happening around the edges of the depth chart between now and then too.
Minnesota Vikings sign OL Vershon Lee
Vershon Lee played 51 games (40 starts) over five seasons at South Carolina, before going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Nonetheless, he got a tryout with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday and clearly impressed those in attendance. Friday afternoon, he was signed, taking safety Bubba Bolden’s spot on the roster.

It remains to be seen where Lee will factor into the Minnesota Vikings OL plans, but they obviously liked what they saw from him on Thursday. Heading into training camp, the offensive front will feature three new starters this season.

Will Fries and Donovan Jackson take over at the guard spots while Ryan Kelly is stepping in as the Vikings new center. Blake Brandel and Walter Rouse are the likely backups as bookends which means Lee — who wore No. 53 in college for the Gamecocks — will be competing with a group more focused on adding to the interior.
What was your favorite Bubba Bolden + Vikings moment
It wasn’t that long ago that Bubba Bolden became the very first free agent signed by the purple, back in March, when the free agency bell first rang. Now, he’s out. The safety position will be one to watch this year for Brian Flores’ defense.
Cam Bynum took his talents to Indianapolis, and Minnesota promoted Theo Jackson to the starting lineup. With Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus back, Bubba Bolden’s depth must’ve been deemed unnecessary, after watching him workout this spring.
The Minnesota Vikings kick off their preseason schedule on August 9th with a home game against the Houston Texans. They host the New England Patriots the following week and will have joint practices with Mike Vrabel’s squad.
