James Milner has extended his deal with Brighton. He will turn 40 in January, being among the greatest veterans ever to play in top flight football. His tally of England caps stopped at 61, playing his last 9 years ago.

He has Premier League winners medals with Man City and Liverpool. Milner joined Brighton in 2023, and to date he has played 19 PL games for The Seagulls.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler is 7 years younger than James Milner. This is a funny and special combination. It is unusual to see a player far older than the manager.

He made his debut for Leeds as far back as 2002, playing 48 league games and scoring 5 goals. Sadly, Leeds were relegated in 2004, seeing a young James Milner joining Newcastle. He also had a spell at Aston Villa before joining Man City in 2010.

He was a pioneer at Man City. He was part of the 2011-12 team. During this time, Roberto Mancini took the team all the way. They won the Premier League for the first time. JM was also at Man City when they lifted the same trophy in 2013-14.

Delighted to extend my time at the club and looking forward to getting back into pre season to work with the manager and this talented group of players. #BHAFC pic.twitter.com/7VnoEhpO6e

The magic of Jurgen Klopp is often seen in his special line-up, having James Milner mostly on the fringe. His was a previous Premier League winner. This was a hidden and valuable secret in the formula of Liverpool winning the trophy in 2019-20. It was valuable to have a player with that type of experience in the dressing room.

Brighton do have a reputation of taking on some very experienced men and bring them to their camp. Glenn Murray was one special icon, so was Adam Lallana. Danny Welbeck is another player who bring wealth of experience to the group at this point.

James Milner is special, a real icon in Premier League football.
