The Washington Commanders will enter the 2025 season with the majority of the offense from 2024 coming back and ready to roll.
Led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, Zach Ertz, and (we're pretty sure) Terry McLaurin, the Commanders have an assortment of standout players ...
And one room being torn up by criticism from some in the media.
Among the returnees are Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler. ... and yet, there have been rumors about trades in that department. Ekeler recently talked about the "confidence in yourself'' that he and the group have now that they're a bit established here.
So the Commanders will be hoping they can play a little smarter and little faster with most of the same offensive group ... plus trade acquisitions Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil.
So what's the criticism?
In an ugly accusation, the guys at Heavy are insisting that Washington hasn't improved this position due to "apathy'' and that the Commanders harbor an "utter disregard'' for upgrading the group.
That's not only harsh ... it's myopic.
Why would Peters move mountains to fix the roster (which made the NFC championship finale last year) but be purposely "apathetic'' toward doing more.
This roster has flaws; all of them do. But it's usually not because the team isn't trying to win.
Many believe the Commanders will again be one of the teams to beat in the NFC, and perhaps a hidden advantage is that the majority of the offense is returning, which could allow for a fast start in 2025.
And yes, for now, that includes the incumbent running backs.
