Shai Gilgeous-Alexander captured the attention of fans before the Oklahoma City Thunder’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
As the NBA world was captivated by the thrilling showdown between the two teams in Game 4, the two-time NBA All-Star’s distinctive demeanor sparked conversation.
In a post shared by the NBA’s official Instagram, the Thunder point guard was spotted having a brief interaction with fans ahead of the game.
Known for his genuine and consistent fan engagement, he was often seen connecting with his supporters.
Interestingly, his latest interaction with them included the NBA star borrowing a pen from a young fan who was waiting for his autograph.
“I’m gonna bring this back, okay? Stay right there,” he said and took the blue marker as the fan handed it to him.
Gilgeous-Alexander signed autographs from left to right before he gave it back to the little girl.
While the interaction was adorable, fans couldn’t help but notice one small detail about the 2025 MVP.
“I thought you were not supposed to use the blue marker,” one asked.
“Noooo! You’re not supposed to use a blue marker,” a fan added.
“Not the blue marker,” a commenter said.
“Bro pretty sure he knew he used a blue marker that’s what makes him real asf,” another remarked.

Fans continued to echo the same sentiment.
“Bro used a blue marker,” a supporter mentioned.
“Thought he was gonna throw it away and get a black marker. He must not know,” a fan stated, while another added, “Thought you can forge signatures with blue markers.”
Although what he did was not against the NBA rules, it is common practice for athletes to avoid signing in blue pen and instead use a black marker.
The reason for this is that black marker signatures are harder to replicate and tend to last longer on memorabilia, making them more authentic and valuable.
