EAGAN, MN (Dakota News Now) - The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their mandatory three day minicamp yesterday in Eagan.
All eyes are on quarterback J.J. McCarthy who, though technically in his second year, is really a rookie after missing all of last season with a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Primed to be the team’s starter, the main focus for McCarthy is finding a rhythm and groove throwing the football after being out for so long, something that will continue in the weeks leading up to training camp.
“You know it just comes with the reps on reps and the feel. Just like your working on your chips in a golf game. Just finding that feel over and over again. And having this much time off, and not throwing the ball since the injury, you know I’m just finding that feel again. It’s just an ultimate blessing that I get to get out here and take advantage of these six weeks off and really work on those different kind of pitches.” McCarthy says.
McCarthy and the Vikings will return to Eagan late next month for Training Camp. Official dates will be announced in the next couple of weeks.
