Bryan Mbeumo in action for Brentford.
Manchester United want to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
The summer transfer window is set to re-open on Monday after a six-day break and Manchester United are going to hope to wrap up some more business.
United confirmed the arrival of Matheus Cunha in a £62.5million deal from Wolves earlier this month, but the Reds have been quiet since then, despite Bryan Mbeumo confirming he prioritises a move to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim is still keen for United to sign a No.9 - with Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike among those linked with a move this summer.
Elsewhere, United want to get players off the books, with Alejandro Garnacho expected to leave the club. Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are set to follow him out of the door.
Here, The Manchester Evening News has taken a look at the latest transfer snippets involving United;
Tottenham make Mbeumo offer
Off the back of reports on Friday morning that Mbeumo is intrigued by the prospect of signing for Tottenham, it appears that Spurs have forced United's hand.
According to The Mirror, Spurs have launched a £70million bid to sign the Brentford player this summer - and that's £15million more than United's opening offer. It is claimed that United remains the preferred destination for Mbeumo but this big bid could take the matter out of his hands.
The Manchester Evening News says: As much as that would be a major blow for United, it wouldn't surprise me if Tottenham manage to lure Mbeumo to north London for one reason; Thomas Frank.
Mbeumo has worked with Frank at Brentford for six years now and he has aided his development from a Ligue 2 footballer to consistent performer in the Premier League. In fact, the 25-year-old produced his best-ever season in 2024/2025, finding the net 20 times in 42 matches.
And the fact that Frank has been appointed Tottenham's new head coach may just convince Mbeumo to team-up with him at the Europa League winners.
Sporting offer Gyokeres assurance
Sporting CP have offered United target Gyokeres the assurance that he will be allowed to depart this summer, for £51million plus add-ons, according to his agent Hasan Cetinkaya.
Frederico Vandaras, Sporting president, claimed in a press conference on Wednesday that there is no gentleman's agreement for Gyokeres to leave the club in a package worth £59million.
However, Cetinkaya bit back on Friday and revealed he has written evidence of the agreement that he made with Sporting, and that the Sweden international can leave for £51million and £8.5million in bonuses.
Now, Cetinkaya has confirmed Sporting have guaranteed that Gyokeres can leave for the agreed sum this summer, with United, Arsenal and Juventus among those interested.
The Manchester Evening News says: United should strike up the chance to sign Gyokeres this summer. Amorim is aware of his qualities and knows how to get the best out of him, as he did during their time together at Sporting.
It's clear that United need to sign a new No.9 and Gyokeres would be my pick, purely because of the fee and the fact that Amorim has worked with the ex-Coventry City player before. Plus, he has proven that he can score on a frequent basis over the last couple of years - something that United could do with.
