Matheus Cunha has impressed multiple times when facing Manchester United, which surely caught the club’s eye.
The Brazil international has been one of the Premier League’s best for two seasons now, and Manchester United have seen firsthand how incredible he can be.
First-hand experience can be a very convincing factor, and clearly, United have liked what they saw from Matheus Cunha.
United spent £62.5m in order to sign Cunha, with the Wolves star becoming the first major signing of the summer transfer window.
Since being officially confirmed and pictured in the new kit on Thursday, Cunha has spoken to club media, with several interesting points discussed.
Cunha has heaped praise on Bruno Fernandes, stating the United captain is an example for the rest of the league. Additionally, Cunha said he will do everything for Ruben Amorim.
Now, Cunha has been reminiscing over some of his best moments against United.

In his interview on MUTV, Cunha was quizzed about these by Danny Webber, including the brilliant moment that he scored from a corner in December 2024.
“Well, it’s funny because the staff came to me and then asked me to shoot, because in training, I shot in the past.
“They said, ‘Look, you don’t need to cross, shoot, and then the guys will try to touch the ball because it’ll be good’.
“Of course, when I kick the ball, I don’t think I will score the goal, but it was between both cross and shoot, it was 50/50.”
This moment was both brilliant from Cunha and embarrassing for Onana, as he should never be conceding from there, as good as the corner taker was.
However, this is not the only time Cunha has left United looking clueless.
When Matheus Cunha tore United apart in 2023
Back on the opening day of the 2023-24 season, United took on Wolves on a Monday at Old Trafford, and despite pulling off a 1-0 win, the visitors were by far the better team, with Cunha the standout player.
Webber told Cunha he “terrorised United” and he was “brilliant” in the 1-0 defeat for Wolves.
“Wow, I think this game was the first game that I started against United, apart from the game I played when I was younger. We start the game at Old Trafford, and you know, all the dreams are in my mind. But it’s like I say to you, this club is always my dream… I want to use different words, but these are the words I can use.
“When I stepped out [onto the pitch] I think wow, I’m so free to do whatever I want, and I remember we changed manager at the time and he came in and told me, ‘Matheus, I can only say to you be a little bit more free’, and then he gave me the confidence to play well.”
In this game, Cunha’s ball carrying split United’s midfield wide open on numerous occasions, with his power and speed impossible to stop, and laid out the issues that Erik ten Hag’s midfield struggled with all campaign.
