Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s nine-year association with Everton is edging to a close.

Calvert-Lewin’s contract expires this summer, and much has been made over whether the striker would sign a new contract.

David Moyes has been handed a £100million budget to play with, with the Scotsman’s focus firmly on adding firepower to Everton’s under-gunned front line.

The Friedkin Group are looking to head a new era as the Toffees move to their new stadium, and it seems Calvert-Lewin will not be a part of that new era.

Calvert-Lewin set to leave Everton after contract talks stalled

Calvert-Lewin looks set to leave Everton this summer as, according to The Times (9 June), contract talks with the 28-year-old have stalled.

It is widely reported that the 28-year-old’s current contract sees the forward bag £100,000-a-week. However, the Englishman’s recent output has not matched that level of investment.

Calvert-Lewin’s statistics in the Premier League over the last four seasons

The 2020/2021 season was the last time the former Sheffield United player hit double figures in the Premier League, suffering from both injuries and a loss in form since that time.

Calvert-Lewin has somewhat accepted his fate, and ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that promoted sides like Leeds United could be his most logical next step.

“I think there would be interest from the Premier League,” King said.

“Especially the newly promoted clubs, Burnley, Sunderland or maybe Leeds United. Calvert-Lewin is a proven Premier League striker.

“Therefore, the managers at those clubs could be thinking that he would be a good addition to their squad and try to go and get him. This is a £20-30million striker, who is available for free.

“One of those three clubs should certainly be looking at his situation.”

Leeds move for Calvert-Lewin good for both parties

Leeds will look to buck the trend of newly-promoted sides sinking straight back down to the Championship at the first time of asking.

The West Yorkshire outfit were comfortably top scorers this season as they won automatic promotion, but a lot of emphasis was put on Joel Piroe to head the team.

The Premier League is a lot less forgiving, and the addition of Calvert-Lewin could offer a viable option for Daniel Farke’s side while adding experience and know-how to their squad.

It would give the striker an exciting opportunity to stay in the top flight and move to another historic club in Leeds, where he could reignite his career.
