Viktor Gyokeres' exit from Sporting CP has taken another fresh twist after reports in Portugal suggested an encouraging clause in the striker's clause in Portugal.

Gyokeres, 27, has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United after bagging 54 goals in 52 matches last season. After already signing Matheus Cunha and pursuing Bryan Mbeumo, Ruben Amorim is keen to boost his attacking options with the purchase of a new centre-forward.

Previously, it had been reported that the Sweden international has a 'gentlemen's agreement' in his contract at Sporting that would allow him to leave for £59million. Gyokeres has a £85m release clause at Sporting, but the club were said to have agreed for him to depart for less.

However, Sporting president Frederico Varandas revealed on Wednesday that no agreement is in place for Gyokeres to depart for that price. The striker's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, then added more drama to the saga when Swedish outlet Aftonbladet claimed he had proof of the alleged agreement between the player and Sporting that he could leave for £59m.

Now, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Cetinkaya included an optional clause in Gyokeres' contract at Sporting that allows him to demand 10% of the fee if Sporting turn down a bid worth £51m or more.

The report adds that if the former Coventry City star opts to activate that clause, Sporting have threatened to refuse to let Gyokeres leave for anything less than his £85m release clause.
