Liverpool have received a transfer enquiry from Galatasaray for goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to reports. The Brazilian international faces fresh competition for the No. 1 spot next season as Georgian stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili prepares to report to Anfield one year after a £29million deal was agreed with Valencia.
Alisson has been the Reds' undisputed first choice for the past seven seasons, with Caoimhin Kelleher unable to force his way past him in the pecking order. But he faces a different challenge in keeping Mamardashvili - a 24-year-old with more than a century of La Liga appearances and 29 international caps - out of the side.
Mamardashvili is presumed to be the long-term replacement for Alisson, whose contract expires next summer. Anfield chiefs retain the option to extend his deal by an additional 12 months, but that could primarily be a means for Liverpool to bank a fee for the 32-year-old if they look to move him on in 2026.
Amid the uncertainty, Sky Germany claim that Galatasaray recently tested the waters with a 'concrete enquiry' for Alisson. However, Liverpool's starting goalkeeper declined the approach in favour of staying with the Premier League champions.
Gala have already shown their serious intentions this summer by landing Leroy Sane on a free transfer. The former Manchester City and Bayern Munich star is understood to have signed a lucrative deal as he prepares to take his next steps in Turkey.
