Seamus Coleman could get his wish as Everton eye striker he says would score '20 PL goals' -…

Everton’s search for a new striker is proving a difficult one with clubs across Europe competing for a new number nine.

David Moyes will want to enjoy a short break from football but the transfer market will have the Scot keeping one eye on the action.

Fortunately for the 62-year-old, the Friedkins have transformed Everton’s recruitment setup which has put Nick Hammond and Angus Kinnear in charge of transfers.

A lot of work needs to be done at Everton considering the number of players leaving at the end of their contracts.

But Everton are prioritising a new striker with a consistent outlet of goals wanted by Moyes.

Plenty of names have been thrown about but there is now one to emerge in recent days which will delight club captain Seamus Coleman.

Everton News understands Everton have contacted Thierno Barry’s agents over a potential move from Villarreal.

But it has been reported elsewhere that Everton hold an interest in Evan Ferguson who Brighton & Hove Albion are open to selling.

Ferguson spent the second half of the campaign out on loan with West Ham United which did not do the striker any favours whatsoever.

Everton showed interest in Ferguson in January but the Ireland international opted to remain down south for the short-term move.

The youngster has struggled to really build on the early hype when he broke on the scene with the Seagulls.

Much like Armando Broja, Ferguson looks like he is in desperate need of a solid move where he can discover his best form and develop.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaving Everton at the end of his contract, Everton need to add to their squad depth as well as finding a new starting striker.

What Seamus Coleman said about Evan Ferguson

If there is one player who is aware of Ferguson’s talent it will be the Everton and Ireland captain, Coleman.

There is no doubting it has been a difficult couple of years for the 20-year-old striker, but Coleman has previously backed Ferguson to net 20 Premier League goals a season.

“First and foremost, you know me by now, I see the person who comes into the camp first, wondering how are they, are they humble or getting carried away with themselves,” Coleman said during an Ireland camp in 2023.

“I have to say that Evan is so level headed and focussed. That’s great to see because you have no fears of him scoring 15 or 20 Premier League goals and then taking his eye off the ball.

“Without putting too much pressure on him, he’s such a talented lad.”

The glaring concern as far as Ferguson may be concerned is whether he will be able to secure regular minutes to help his development.

Everton want to sign a new starting striker and it is difficult to imagine Ferguson being that player considering his recent struggles.
