When Manchester United players leave Old Trafford for the last time as a United player, they and the Manchester United shirt become one with the player forever associated with the famous red shirt for the rest of their career and life.
However, that means that when these players do good or bad things, the club becomes associated with those actions.
But, this doesn’t just happen with Manchester United, it happens with a lot of other big football clubs not just in England but all around the world.
Furthermore, these players become world famous and recognisable within the fanbases in which they represented.
Nani Accused Of Theft
This arguably is why news that Nani has been accused of theft may disappoint and upset some United fans with the attacker.
The four time Premier League winner and former Portuguese international star is reported to have initially gone to sign the jersey before events took a different turn,
Then, the 39 year old is described to have taken the shirt it from the supporter instead before placing it on the passenger seat of his car and driving off.
This is described to have left the supporter who wanted the shirt signing in complete shock.
Nani’s Record With United
Nani made 147 appearances for the Red Devils over the course of 8 years scoring on 25 occasions over this period and becoming an exciting winger and regular starter in the team.
During his time with United, he won the Premier League on four occasions, the Champions League once, the FIFA Club World Cup once and the Football League Cup twice.
Away from his achievements with the team, the winger featured in the PFA Team of the Season in the 2010/11 and was Manchester United’s Player of the Year in that same season.
The Reaction
Following this alleged event, Nani has responded with a statement from his representatives which admits that he overreacted out of ’emotion’ and claiming that he thought it was an important shirt in his collection.
