Arsenal have been handed a significant advantage in their pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with fresh reports revealing a contractual clause that could force the Portuguese club to accept a lower fee than expected.
The 27-year-old Swedish international, who has been heavily linked with a move to north London, is now at the centre of growing transfer momentum. According toMais Futebol, journalist Nuno Farinha reports that Sporting are under increasing pressure to sanction Gyokeres’ departure this summer due to a unique clause in his contract.
As per the clause, Sporting must pay 10% of any rejected official offer above a certain threshold to Gyokeres’ agent. This means the club may be financially disincentivised from turning down strong bids from top European suitors, including Arsenal, making a transfer more likely.

The development comes as a major boost for the Gunners, who are prioritising the addition of a prolific striker this summer. Gyokeres, who is coming off a sensational campaign with 54 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, is seen as a world-class option who could transform Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Arsenal have fallen just short of winning the Premier League in recent seasons, with the absence of a clinical forward often cited as a decisive factor. The addition of Gyokeres could finally provide the firepower needed to end their long wait for a league title.

Further strengthening Arsenal’s position,Record reports that Gyokeres has officially ruled out a move to Manchester United. The player, via his agent, has informed the Red Devils that he has no interest in joining them, effectively eliminating a key rival in the race for his signature.
United manager Ruben Amorim, who previously coached Gyokeres at Sporting, was eager to bring him to Old Trafford as part of his rebuild. However, the lack of European football following United’s poor league campaign and Europa League final defeat to Tottenham has proven costly in the transfer market.
United have already missed out on key targets, including Liam Delap and now Gyokeres has joined the list.
