Breece Hall Has Honest Admission About Trade Rumors

The New York Jets have a young star at the running back position.

When healthy and out there, Breece Hall has posted solid numbers despite his team’s perennial offensive woes.

That’s why it’s been slightly surprising to see him tangled up in so many trade rumors lately.

When asked about that, the young running back claimed that it was up to him to prove why they shouldn’t even consider moving on from him:

> “I was seeing it just like everybody else was seeing it,” Hall [said](https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/breece-hall-prove-im-the-guy-jets), speaking publicly for the first time about those specious trade rumors. “But as I said, if people feel like you’re not doing your job, you’re going to be replaced. It didn’t happen. I’m here.”

The Jets added another bruiser to the mix when they took Braelon Allen, and he’s been a solid complement to Hall.

Perhaps that’s also why they might feel like he’s expendable, given that he will soon be eligible to sign a very lucrative contract extension.

Not many teams want to pay running backs big bucks, knowing that they tend to age poorly because of the wear and tear and physicality of the NFL game.

Also, Hall has already overcome a major injury.

Even so, from a production standpoint, there’s no reason to think he’s not a legitimate workhorse running back.

So far, he’s averaged 4.6 yards per carry, logging 2,333 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 512 rushing attempts.

He looked poised to win Offensive Rookie of the Year before sustaining a season-ending injury, and while his yards-per-carry averages have slightly dropped since his rookie campaign, the Jets’ offensive situation has rarely done anything to help his case.

Despite the negative game script and a subpar offensive line, he continues to be efficient, and if the Jets don’t consider him an integral part of their future, there should be no shortage of teams keeping tabs on him.
