Cleveland Browns fans didn’t know what to think of the team’s quarterback position heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
They traded for Kenny Pickett and acquired Joe Flacco in early April, the top two quarterback options at the time.
Then, the Browns decided to draft not one, but two, quarterbacks, leading to more confusion and competition down the line.
Shedeur Sanders has been fighting to show that he’s worthy of the QB1 designation, doing whatever is possible to distinguish himself.
He isn’t just trying to be a solid football player on the field, but recognizes that he has an opportunity to learn from a fellow player who has been in the league for a long time.
As Sanders mentioned via Jeff Schedel on X, he would “be a fool” not to take any advice that Flacco throws his way throughout practice.
“I’d be dumb, I’d be a fool to not get insight from somebody that’s had success over all the years that he’s had,” Sanders said. “I never feel, I would say, full. I would say I’m always hungry.”

Not every veteran likes to mentor the new generation of players in this league, but Flacco has been said to be a strong role model throughout his career.
Flacco’s time in the NFL won’t last too much longer, and while the Browns aren’t looking like a Super Bowl contender, he could leave his mark on a franchise for a different reason.
Sanders has a lot to work on over the next several months, and it certainly doesn’t hurt to have Flacco in his corner, especially if he advocates for him with the coaching staff.
The Browns haven’t had a consistent quarterback for some time, but if Sanders can develop the way some believe he can, things could change quickly for this organization.
