Arsenal have been looking for a new striker for absolutely ages at this point.
Indeed, the Gunners have been looking at bringing in a new number nine for numerous transfer windows, and yet, they still haven’t solved their striking problems.
Luckily, Arsenal are getting closer to signing a new striker.
Benjamin Sesko has emerged as Arsenal’s top choice, and even if Sesko doesn’t come to the Emirates, Arsenal have Viktor Gyokeres lined up as a plan B.
Even beyond that, Arsenal have other options.
Indeed, according to Sami Mokbel, speaking to The Football Terrace, Ollie Watkins still shouldn’t be discounted as an option at Arsenal.
Ollie Watkins could be Arsenal option
According to the BBC journalist, Ollie Watkins shouldn’t be discounted as a target for Arsenal.
Arsenal did bid for Watkins this past January transfer window, and according to Mokbel, the Aston Villa striker could still feature among Arsenal’s plans.
“Sesko is a tad ahead in the thinking of everyone at Arsenal, but that isn’t to say we should discount someone like Viktor Gyokeres or beyond that, even Ollie Watkins who would be available for far less than Sesko and Gyokeres, but there’s the age thing there with the sell-on and the resale value and that kind of stuff,” Mokbel said.
Boyhood fans who signed for Arsenal
Ollie Watkins joining Arsenal would be romantic in a lot of ways as the striker is a known boyhood Arsenal fan.
Indeed, Watkins has been open about the fact he supported Arsenal as a kid, and he wouldn’t be the first boyhood fan to sign for the Gunners.

Matteo Guendouzi
Jurrien Timber
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Matteo Guendouzi was an Arsenal fan ever since he was a child, saying upon signing:
“Arsenal have always been the team closest to my heart and a side I’ve wanted to join since I was a child.”
Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber said something similar when he signed for Arsenal, noting:
“I’ve always been a fan of Arsenal… I had this from a young age, but my brothers kind of put that in me.”
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan admitted in 2009, years before he was an Arsenal player, that he supported the Gunners.
Watkins is a ‘fantastic’ striker, and he’d be a great addition due to his talent.
On top of that he’d also bring that added element of passion to Arsenal that comes with being a boyhood fan.
