Kendrick Perkins Takes Shot at Kevin Durant Amid NBA Trade Rumors

Former NBA center and current ESPN basketball analyst Kendrick Perkins took a shot at Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant on the latest episode of Road Trippin'.

The Suns will trade Durant this offseason, meaning he will play for his fifth team next season. The future Hall of Famer played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns.

Durant won two titles and two Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. However, he hasn't reached the conference finals since leaving Golden State for Brooklyn in 2019.

Perkins, who played with Durant on the Thunder, doesn't think his former teammate is a "needle mover" anymore.

Durant played with Kyrie Irving and James Harden in Brooklyn and couldn't get out of the second round.

Durant then played with Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Bradley Beal in Phoenix and still struggled in the playoffs.

"I would like to tell the teams out there that’s actually looking to get Kevin Durant, approach with caution, okay? Because Kevin Durant is not a needle mover in my opinion no more when it comes down to if you’re trying to win a championship and this is not something that I’m making up," Perkins said.

"This is facts, right? Like he hasn’t moved the needle. Brooklyn Nets, one of the biggest busts in NBA history with that Big Three in Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Move over, you go to the Phoenix Suns, another bust with another big three. Two firings of two championship coaches in Frank Vogel and Mike Budenholzer."

Durant was swept twice in the first round of the playoffs since leaving the Warriors.

A top 75 player of all time, Durant has been linked to the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks in trade rumors.

It will be intriguing to see where Durant, who turns 37 in the fall, plays next season.
