Everton will be keeping a keen eye on developments elsewhere to throw their hats in the ring.
Transfers have thus far been slow from The Friedkin Group, but it’s what you expect early on in the window.
The Toffees will be looking to make some exciting signings for the opening of the Bramley-Moore Dock, but David Moyes needs time to draw up his candidates and will need to think about replacements as well.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future up in the air, a decision is surely in the works to come to the surface.
But away from a new striker coming in, there is a major update for a defensive target that Everton like.

Everton target Elias Jelert is ‘candidate for summer departure’
Galatasaray right-back Elias Jelert has been a long-standing target for Everton for some time now.
It dates back to January, when Moyes wasn’t even in charge as Jelert emerged on Everton’s radar.
This was the second time they were interested, but now a third pursuit has emerged recently.

Supposedly, Everton put in a bid of £7m for Jelert, and journalist Florian Plettenberg might have given good reason why the bid could be accepted.
Plettenberg states that the Dane is a ‘candidate for a summer departure’ from the Turkish giants.
The 22-year-old has received enquiries from Bundesliga clubs alongside Everton’s supposed £7m bid.

How Jelert compares to Nathan Patterson as Moyes needs new Everton right-back
It’s been made clear by the hierarchy that Everton need a right-back.
With Seamus Coleman staying on but more than likely as a coach, this could hand the reins to Nathan Patterson.
However, Moyes doesn’t trust Patterson, ultimately indicating a new No.2 will be signed this summer, and when looking at Jelert and Patterson’s last comparable campaigns, Moyes will know what to do.
Patterson in 23/24 season Jelert in 24/25 season
Games played 20 21
Pass accuracy % 73% 82.9%
Duels won per 90 4.77 5.19
Tackles won % 70.6% 69.2%
Crossing accuracy % 21.9% 28.6%
Jelert has a contract until 2029, so a solid fee would no doubt prise him away from Galatasaray, but he’s clearly got the talent.
The Premier League is a whole different ball game, but with the 22-year-old available and Patterson looking unconvincing, this has to be on Everton’s radar
