Carmelo Anthony Sends 3-Word Message to Son Kiyan Anthony

Long Island Lutheran’s standout senior, Kiyan Anthony, closed out an impressive high school career as one of the most versatile guards in the class of 2025. Standing 6-foot-5 and averaging around 15 points per game in Nike EYBL play, he also earned MVP honors at “The Throne” after leading LuHi to an 18-game win streak and a top ranking in the MaxPreps national standings.

His senior-year contributions helped elevate the program’s national profile and earned him widespread recruiting interest. Kiyan, the son of NBA legend and former Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony, carved his own path beyond his famous surname.

After transferring from Christ the King, Kiyan became a Jordan Brand Classic MVP in 2025. He held offers from major Division I programs such as Indiana, Tennessee, Michigan, and – his father's alma mater – Syracuse, which he committed to in November.

Over the weekend, Kiyan’s high school posted a tribute video to social media, celebrating his impact on the program.

“A tribute to you Kiyan!" the school wrote. Your presence on and off of the court is undeniable. You’ve grown tremendously as a player and as a leader in your time here. Keep putting drops in the bucket, 1% better each day. Your future is bright and we are truly excited to follow your journey ahead!”

Carmelo reposted the clip to his Instagram story with a, three-word message: “Proud of you.”

The simple caption and heartfelt timing captured the pride shared by both father and son amid Kiyan’s transition to college basketball.

As he heads to Syracuse this fall, the potential is clear. A nationally ranked guard, Kiyan offers scoring, playmaking, and a quiet leadership that belies his age. His high school performance and accolades suggest he can make an immediate impact, even under the weight of a storied family basketball legacy.

Kiyan’s next chapter at Syracuse gives him the chance to write his own legacy—on and off the court.
