Reason Suns Likely Won't Trade Kevin Durant to Spurs Revealed

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported on Saturday that the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns have talked about a blockbuster Kevin Durant trade.

The Suns are looking to trade Durant sooner rather than later, but it doesn't appear that KD will land in San Antonio next to Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.

"Sources add that Phoenix is not enamored with the players San Antonio has made available in the teams' talks to date," Fischer wrote. "It is obviously presumed that Durant would relish the opportunity to play alongside Victor Wembanyama, but it is also believed that the Spurs are only willing to discuss veterans such as Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes.

"The Spurs just managed to acquire De'Aaron Fox from Sacramento largely on their terms and the notion now of surrendering newly named Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle or the No. 2 selection in this month's draft is simply a non-starter."

Durant, who turns 37 in September, put up strong numbers for the Suns this season. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

The Suns and Spurs missed the playoffs this year.

San Antonio, though, appears to have a bright future with Wembanyama and Fox leading the way.

Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. The two-time Finals MVP has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

While it would have been fun to watch Durant play with Wembanyama and Fox, it doesn't look like KD is going to get traded to the Spurs.
