Viktor Gyokeres’ future has remained undecided for a number of weeks with the 27 year old looking likely to move away from Sporting CP.

The Swedish international impressed fans and pundits alike during the 2024-25 season, a campaign in which he scored 45 goals across the Liga Portugal and Champions League.

The Gyokeres Story So Far

With Manchester United one of the clubs interested in the striker, it emerged last week that Gyokeres would choose a club in England to join ahead of the 2025-26 season.

However, with Sporting CP undecided on the fee or on Gyokeres’ future, it looked unlikely that the striker would move away from the Portuguese champions. But, with Sporting agreeing on a fee to sell the 27 year old for, the Swedish international looks more likely than ever to move away from Sporting CP.

Viktor Gyokeres Chooses Arsenal

Now, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Viktor Gyokeres’ priority is to join Arsenal this summer due to the prospect of Champions League football that would come through joining the North London side.

This follows calls from Manchester United in recent weeks over the prospect of the 27 year old joining Ruben Amorim’s project at Old Trafford.

Gyokeres is reported to be an option for Arsenal this summer with Benjamin Sesko another name in the mix as Mikel Arteta looks to build a side that can improve on the North London side’s 2nd place finish in the Premier League last season.

However, no decision has been made by the Gunners just yet but Arsenal are reported to be monitoring the situation before they make a choice.

What Now For United?

Manchester United are also still keen in the prospect of a deal although believe the viability of a deal would be unlikely now following this news.

The Red Devils may now choose to turn to alternative options such as Victor Osimhen and others as they look to add to their frontline ahead of the 2025-26 season.
