Chelsea are actively looking to sign some new defenders this summer. They are ready to part ways with multiple current ones. As of now, all Disasi, Badiashile, Veiga and Chalobah are linked with exit. In addition, Fofana also finds his future unsecure due to injuries.
Hence, the West London club can be seen signing more than 2 defenders. They have been linked with multiple big names like Jorrel Hato and Marc Guehi. Amidst this, they recently made bid for Spanish defender but it has been rejected.
Chelsea have bid rejected for Spanish defender
The player in question here is Mario Gila of Lazio. He is 24 year old Spanish defender. This season he played 42 games for Lazio and has performed really well. He has 2 years left on his current contract but is likely to depart this summer as multiple top clubs are keen to sign him.
According to Il Messaggero, Chelsea made €35 million bid to sign Gila. But, Lazio have rejected the offer quickly. In addition, they also had €40 million offer from Bournemouth. The Cherries are looking to replace Dean Huijsen. But, Lazio have rejected that offer too.
Lazio are demanding €50 million for Gila. They are unwilling to lower their demands because they need to share 50% with Real Madrid. The report then adds that Gila is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur and PSG. Hence, it is a very open race for the 24 year old in the summer window.
Gila will be tempted to play for big club like Chelsea, Spurs or PSG. These clubs will provide him Champions League football. But, the player can be also tempted to join Bournemouth who are challenging top clubs in Premier League.
