Marshon Lattimore Gives Injury Update For Commanders

Veteran corner Marshon Lattimore was once a perennial Pro Bowler, earning three nominations in as many years from 2019-2021.

Injuries, as they do for many athletes, have gotten in the way.

That was clear last season when the corner was traded to the Washington Commanders to bolster a young secondary. Lattimore played just two regular season games with Washington but helped them reach the conference title game.

As he gets set for his first full season in the nation's capital, Lattimore is excited to return to his former (elite) self.

Being healthy for an offseason program certainly helps with that goal.

"Just getting a full offseason to get healthy, I feel great," Lattimore said during minicamp. "You know, I've been working a lot trying to keep being in shape, getting in better shape than I was obviously last year, dealing with an injury. I feel good."

Lattimore's hamstring injury kept him hobbled for most of the 2024 season. However, Washington was still confident enough in the veteran to give up a second-round pick for him.

This season is important, though. Lattimore is entering the second-to-last year of his deal with Washington. If he does not produce in 2025, the Commanders could cut him in the following offseason and save over $18 million.

The pressure is on the veteran cornerback to show he can still play at a high level. Doing so could give the Commanders a defensive boost necessary to take a step towards the Super Bowl.

Anything less, and Lattimore's career may be in jeopardy.
