Everton have been told a £35million offer for Villarreal striker Thierno Barry will be accepted as they plan to make a big-money offer.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about David Moyes’ pursuit of a new star striker in the summer transfer window.
Barry, 22, has been identified as a key target for the Toffees as they prepare for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract.
Football Insider revealed on 6 June that Everton are resigned to losing Calvert-Lewin and will now turn their attentions towards landing a replacement.
Moyes’ side are believed to be keeping tabs on a number of potential additions including former Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic who could return to England.
Barry is another name on their list of targets, and while Villarreal have no plans to move him on after a successful season, they could be forced into a decision.

Everton plot Thierno Barry deal after David Moyes claim
Barry moved to Villarreal from Basel just last summer and his contract is set to run until 2029, meaning the La Liga club are under no pressure to sell.
Meanwhile, former West Ham scout Mick Brown, who worked closely with Moyes told Football Insider that Everton are set to back Moyes in the transfer market this summer.
O’Rourke explained that a £35million bid would be enough to get Villarreal’s attention, as Barry is one of the top names on the Toffees’ list.
“There will be a big list at Everton for striker reinforcements,” he told Football Insider.
“They’re in the market for a new striker regardless of what happens with Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation, and it looks more and more likely that he will leave.
“David Moyes’ priority in the summer will be more attacking additions to help with their goalscoring issues.
“Barry is an interesting player, he only signed for Villarreal last summer from Basel.
“He had a good season there, scored 11 goals and four assists in 35 La Liga games.
“He’s a young player with huge potential, still only 22, but Villarreal are under no real pressure to sell him and would ideally like to keep hold of Barry.
“If Everton can make an offer of £35million for Barry, it will leave the Spanish club with a decision to make.
“He will be one of a number of names Everton are looking at to bolster their forward line.”

Burnley respond to interest in Maxime Esteve
A new striker is not the only addition Moyes wants to make to his squad this summer, as he continues to eye potential defensive reinforcements.
Football Insider revealed on 12 June that Everton want to sign Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, but will also face competition from Crystal Palace for his signature.
Meanwhile, Burnley are hopeful that a £50million price tag will deter interest from rival Premier League clubs following their promotion from the Championship.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Palace and Everton want to sign Esteve and have had scouts tracking his performances this season.
