Knicks Receive Unfortunate Update on Kevin Durant Rumors

The New York Knicks are entering an interesting offseason following a defeat in the Eastern Conference Finals. New York has the tools to be very active this summer, and they have been linked with a few big-name players.

One of those is Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, who is likely to be traded in the coming days. New York has shown interest in Durant, and could make the Suns an interesting offer to consider.

However, it seems that there may be a few other teams that are leading the pack for Durant's series. Knicks insider Ian Begley threw some cold water on the trade rumors involving New York and Durant.

Begley shared the update on everything on his social media.

"One thing worth noting on potential Kevin Durant trades: there are important Suns voices who want to add a starting-caliber C this offseason. There are several pathways to do this but KD trade obviously gives PHX the clearest path to one. As many others have said, MIN is among teams with current interest in Durant. Nothing has changed for me with the Knicks and Durant, despite the reported interest earlier this week. Still see it at as a long shot that Durant ends up in NY."

While the Knicks could offer the Suns a center like Mitchell Robinson or Karl-Anthony Towns, Phoenix likely wants draft capital in a return for Durant. New York is a little strapped for draft picks after acquiring forward Mikal Bridges last offseason.

Durant would be a home-run addition for the Knicks, but it doesn't seem like it will happen. New York will need to look elsewhere for major upgrades to the roster, or the team can simply upgrade around the edges of the roster.

New York has an impressive collection of talent across the roster, especially within the starting lineup. They don't need to add a player like Durant, but the team does need to make some upgrades, especially within the bench unit.

The Knicks front office is determined to bring a title back to the city of New York, and this offseason could play a big role in that. After the success that the team saw this season, the Knicks could be aggressive this summer once again.
