William and Willson Contreras have etched their names into the record books. William, who plays for the Milwaukee Brewers, and Willson, who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals, both hit home runs during the ninth inning of Saturday’s game.

According to Brent Maguire of MLB.com, William and Willson Contreras are just the second pair of brothers to hit home runs as opponents in the same inning. The only other siblings to do it was Rick and Wes Ferrell in 1933.
Siblings playing on the same team with home runs in the same inning has occurred more frequently, with Bo and Josh Naylor of Cleveland doing it last year. In total, brothers have homered in the same inning on 11 different occasions since 1900.

Aside from hitting home runs in the same inning, another cool moment happened during Thursday’s contest. That day, William threw out his brother Willson trying to steal second base. Willson, who is 33 years old, only steals a handful or less bases each year, so it’s interesting that he chose trying to run his little brother Williams, who has thrown out the second most base runners this year.
Given the grind of the 162 game season, it’s always nice to see moments like this between brothers. A little friendly competition between the two is fun for not only them, but fans as well.
