New Twist As Report Reveals That Man United Have‘Resumed’Talks Over£64M Transfer

Manchester United have “resumed” discussions with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, according to reports in France.

The Nigerian international was involved in lengthy negotiations to make a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal but the player has now decided to stay in Europe.

Foot Mercato claim that United originally opened talks with the player back in May prior to the interest from the Middle East.

However, it is believed that fresh meetings have taken place, with the Red Devils hoping to sign the 26-year-old as they look to strengthen their options up front.

Osimhen’s demands are reasonable

One of the preconditions for re-entering discussions was said to be related to personal terms. United are currently not in a position to pay the forward a sizeable basic wage.

Foot Mercato report that a figure of around €12m a season, or approximately £196,000 a week, has been proposed by Osimhen’s representatives.

That salary would likely be deemed acceptable by Director of Football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.

Napoli’s asking price will still present a challenge for Man United

Osimhen’s current club remain steadfast in holding out for his €75m (£64m) release clause, despite the fact that the striker is nearing the final year of his contract.

To find the funds required to buy the Nigerian, the Red Devils may have to raise more money through player sales. The Manchester side are hoping to receive revenue from the departures of the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.

However, if they have to wait too long to secure Osimhen’s signature, there is a danger that other teams could get involved. Liverpool, Chelsea and Galatasaray have also been mentioned as potential suitors in recent weeks.
