Bucks News: West Team’s Major $39M Move Should Remove Brook Lopez from their Radar But…

Brook Lopez’s stint with the Milwaukee Bucks is one of the bigger question this summer and he is not without a team wanting his services. Remove the Houston Rockets on the list of teams chasing him away from Wisconsin due to their latest move.

The Western Conference no. 2 team after the regular season just re-signed center Steven Adams to a $39 million three-year contract to shut down their interest on Splash Mountain.

The Athletic’s Kelly Ico wrote last week that the Rockets are inquiring about Lopez as a contingency in case the Kiwi veteran leaves.

“If Adams leaves, team sources said the Rockets could reignite their interest in Brook Lopez,” Ico wrote.

“The 37-year-old, who averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game shooting 37 percent from 3 in Milwaukee last season, was previously a target for Houston and would theoretically be a fit, given his two-way production and health (played 237 games over the last three seasons).”

Adam was a key player for the Rockets in the playoffs even if they were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the first round. His best game as a Rocket came in Game 6 when he scored 17 points to help the team push a Game 7.

Brook Lopez a target by former team?

Several Western Conference teams are in need of a big man. There’s the Warriors who are being linked to Bobby Portis.

The Los Angeles Lakers got a frontcourt problem, too, and Lopez is just among being linked to them.

Lopez played for the Lakers in 2018 before signing with the Bucks that summer.

Jake Fisher said Purple and Gold continues to be a fan of the one-time All-Star.

“The Lakers have long been fans of Lopez, sources say,” the reporter wrote.

“That doesn’t guarantee they will pursue him again, but the Lakers are indeed expected to be a player in the center market this summer.”
