Report: £150,000-a-week Arsenal star expected to leave, Arteta ready to let him go

Oleksandr Zinchenko is reportedly expected to leave Arsenal in this transfer window amid interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.

CaughtOffside reports that Zinchenko is expected to depart, and clubs from Italy and Germany are keen. He has been at the Emirates since July 2022, when he arrived from Manchester City in a £30m deal.

The 28-year-old has fallen down Mikel Arteta's pecking order, resulting in just five starts in 15 Premier League outings last season. He was reportedly on Galatasaray's radar in January, but a move didn't occur, and he instead spent most of the remainder of the campaign on the bench.

Arsenal are thought to.be demanding around £10-15m for Zinchenko, who has a year left on his contract. His £5m annual salary, working out at £150,000 per week, could rule out several potential suitors because they are operating under strict financial regulations.

Milan are monitoring the situation of the Ukrainian international, as their left-back, Theo Hernandez, looks likely to depart. Juve have him on their list, but their priorities are Girona's Miguel Gutierrez and Club Brugge's Maxim De Cuyper.

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be interested, and he's been the subject of "discussions" at Signal Iduna Park. There is no indication that he has options to remain in England, where he's spent the last eight years of his club career.

Zinchenko gave an admirable response to queries over his future by insisting he was happy just being part of Arteta's team. He said in March (via The Standard): "Even if I will be in the stands, I will try to make an impact as much as I can, to push the others, just to hug someone, whatever! It is really a joy to be here."

Arteta has trusted English wonderkid Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back and this looks to be a long-term decision. The Spaniard also has Riccardo Calafiori to turn to when fit. Thus, it seems Zinchenko has little chance of much game time unless he ends his three-year spell with the Gunners.
