Jason Day Makes Wild Browns-Steelers Admission Amid US Open

Everyone has a right to cheer for whichever team one feels giving support for. However, that doesn’t insulate anyone from being made a fan of. Just take for example PGA Tour golfer Jason Day, who’s made it to the weekend of the 2025 edition of the US Open at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Day, who is from Australia and now lives in Ohio, said on Saturday that he’s a Cleveland Browns fan but also admitted that he’s got a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Even though they have a rivalry, my second favorite team is Pittsburgh,” the 37-year-old Day said (h/tLeocciano Calla of Yahoo Sports). “I know I’m gonna get a lot of slack for that, but I do have the Pittsburgh colors on today, so I’ll just leave it at that.”

The Browns and the Steelers are bitter rivals in the AFC North, but that obviously hasn’t stopped Day from being a fan of both franchises. When it comes to fandom, the “to each his own” mantra applies to everyone, and that, of course, is the case for Day, who’s also been seen watching the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBAplay before in person.

Day, who’s a one-time major winner, thanks to his PGA Championship win in 2015, is still in contention to win the title in Oakmont going into the fourth and final day of the US Open. Through three rounds, Day is tied for 21st place with a 2-over score after a 72 on Saturday.

Sam Burns is leading the field after 54 holes with a 4-under par total, while Adam Scott and JJ Spaun are right behind with 3-under each.
