Man United are looking to replace Andre Onana this summer after a period of poor form for the keeper.

Man United aim to replace a lot of their squad this summer, no-one more so than goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had his worst season in a United shirt, showing poor form and a number of mistakes.

The Cameroon international has expressed his desire to remain at Old Trafford, but with interest from the Saudi Pro League, it is understood that Man United would like to move on from him this summer. Onana made 50 appearances for United last season, conceding 65 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets in all competitions.

However, if they do, then they will need to find an adequate replacement who can come in and be United’s first-choice keeper for at least the next two seasons. They have been linked with several world-class stoppers, but which ones would be the best for Ruben Amorim to sign this summer?

Emiliano Martinez - Aston Villa

Firstly, Man United have been linked to signing Martinez from Aston Villa, with the World Cup winner expected to leave Villa Park after a very successful spell under Unai Emery. The goalkeeper is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford this summer, despite the fact that United don’t have any form of European football next season.

Martinez has made 212 appearances for Aston Villa, conceding 256 goals and keeping 70 clean sheets. He has established himself as one of the best keepers in the Premier League. Plus, Man United would only need to pay around £16m, the reported fee that Villa wants to sell the 32-year-old for.

Mike Maignan - AC Milan

Maignan was heavily linked to Premier League rivals Chelsea before the ‘mini transfer window’ deadline earlier in the week. However, the Blues decided to pass on paying £25m to sign the French international, who has just one year left on his contract at AC Milan.

United could swoop in and try to sign the 29-year-old, who is easily regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football. This season, he has made 53 appearances for Milan, conceding just 59 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets. He would be an absolute steal for the Red Devils.

Lucas Chevalier - Lille FC

Finally, if United are looking to bring in a younger goalkeeper with a lot more potential, they should be looking at Lille FC’s Lucas Chevalier, who has build a very strong reputation in the French Ligue 1 over the past two seasons.
