Tottenham have tabled a proposal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo which is worth £10m more than Man United’s last offer, according to reports.
The Mirror claim that Spurs have lodged a £70m bid, which eclipses the Red Devils’ £55m plus £5m in add-ons.
However, Thomas Frank’s side will not be able to match the salary on offer from the Manchester club.

Mbeumo will receive £200,000 a week, including bonuses, if he makes the switch to Old Trafford. However, due to their wage structure, The Mirror report that the maximum Tottenham can offer the player is £140,000 a week.
The striker is still favouring Man United
At the moment, the higher salary and other factors mean that the Cameroon international remains keen on a switch to the Red Devils.
Things could easily change on that front, though. The appointment of Frank at Spurs, who is his former manager at Brentford, and the chance to play in the Champions League, could yet sway things in the North London team’s favour.
Will another offer be tabled for Mbeumo?
At the moment, it isn’t believed that United are prepared to go above the £60m bid they have already tabled. While the player does effectively have two years left on his contract (with Brentford having an option to extend his stay until 2027), Ruben Amorim’s side are not willing to go above what they deem is a fair price for the player.
A lot now depends on Mbeumo and his resolve. If he is adamant about moving to Manchester, a deal could still be struck. At the time of writing, though, things remain firmly in the balance and there is a danger that the deal could be hijacked. It is a transfer to keep a close eye on over the coming days.
