Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
You know you're in the June/July hiatus when the dominant Browns story is about whether a golfer is a Browns or Steelers fan first and foremost.
Jason Day, a reputed Browns fan, was spotted with a bit of Steelers gear over the weekend and questioned intensely about it. It turns out thatJason Day is, in fact, a Browns fan, although he claims a fondness for Pittsburgh sports in general and says that the Steelers are actually his second-favorite team.
What an adventure it must be to be inside Jason Day's mind and be able to hold two contradictory thoughts at the same time! It's as if he simultaneously argues the world is both flat and round. One cannot have the thoughts "I love the Cleveland Browns" and "I like the Pittsburgh Steelers" in the same consciousness at the same time without being on a different plane of existence. Jason Day must be a modern Buddha or something. Keep an eye on this, well, meta-human, for further proof that all is possible.
However, at least we have his allegiances settled, which is a relief.
WATT JEALOUS OF GARRETT AGAIN?: Someone with a much less settled status is the favorite dominant pass rusher who avoids left tackles, T.J. Watt, who joins Trey Hendrickson as AFC North pass rushers who held out from mini-camps. In Watt's case, the edge rusher, who frequently imitates a Rockette after a big play, hasn't made much progress with the Steelers on a new deal.
Gloriously, part of the reason for that is that the 30-year-old, who already makes over $20 million per season, is holding out after seeing Myles Garrett get his massive deal this offseason. One suspects that Garrett's new deal particularly irks Watt, whose self-pitying message after losing the Defensive Player of the Year award to Garrett after the 2023 season suggests that he considers himself in some competition with the standout Browns defensive end.

The Steelers are, of course, publicly calm about getting a deal done and allowing Watt to pile up some more stats against right tackles. CBS assigns them only a "medium" panic level about the holdout. So, while it's likely that Watt will fold in these negotiations like he does when faced with Joel Bitonio, Browns fans can hold out hope for chaos in Pittsburgh generated once again by Myles Garrett. It would be glorious.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
Have a good one! GO BROWNS!
